Govt First Grade College Puttur was established in the academic year 2007-08 by the order of the Govt of Karnataka. The College started functioning in the old building of Zilla Panchayat higher Primary School Nellikatte, near the K.S.R.T.C. bus stand, Puttur under the leadership of Sri. Ganapathi Bhat Kulamarva, the founder Principal of the college.With the efforts of the college development committee the college got the land in Jidekkal, Chikkamudnoor village.
